Posted Updated

ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. — Orange County commissioners approved Tuesday an expansion plan for the county courthouse.

The new design, which adds an extra 10,000 square feet to the existing courthouse, provides more space for the sheriff's office and an extra courtroom.

The total cost of the project is about $8 million.

Construction on the expansion is expected to begin next year.
