Investigators said the Jackson family was trying to cross the street near the intersection of
Fayetteville and Cook roads
at about 4 p.m. when a car driven by a teenager struck the family.
All four members of the family -- Joseph Jackson, 44; Gwendolyn Jackson, 41; Joesha Jackson, 6; and Joseph Jackson, Jr., 5 -- were taken to Duke University Medical Center for treatment.
Joseph Jackson suffered a broken leg and arm, and Gwendolyn had a "busted mouth" and cuts on the forehead, police said. The children had minor cuts or scrapes on their legs or faces.
Durham police said neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the accident. They said that no charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
Authorities added that there was no crosswalk at the location of the accident.
