RALEIGH, N.C. — A flower could help opponents of a new development in Moore County.

A developer wants to build almost 60 homes in a small community north of Pinehurst.

Residents against the project found a rare plant in the area called a Sandhills Lily.

They hope the developer will not be allowed to build because the plant does not grow many places.
