Cary Leaders Turn Down Firefighters' Plan For Relief Efforts

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — Some Cary firefighters want to raise money to help fellow firefighters who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina, but their request was turned down.

The Cary Professional Fire Fighters Association is affiliated with a national firefighters union.

Members wanted to use fire stations to collect money to send to the Gulf coast.

However, town leaders say private groups cannot use public facilities to support private members.
