ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Rocky Mount teenager is dead and another is charged with murder after the two got into an argument Saturday evening, authorities said.
According to police, 15-year-old Tyshawn Williams was shot and killed after he and another 15-year-old started fighting at a residence on the
700 block of Branch Street
in Rocky Mount.
Police said the suspect, whose identity has not been released because he is a juvenile, pulled a gun and shot Tyshawn in the chest and leg.
The boy was transported to Nash General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
"Whoever pulled that trigger took a lot away from him and us," said Charlene Williams, Tysahwn's aunt, with whom he was living.
Tyshawn, an eighth-grader at Nash Central Middle School, leaves behind a twin brother, four other siblings and a baby sister on the way.
The suspect was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He is currently being held at Pitt Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Greenville.
