Yes, it is a tragedy for that little girl to have been killed. However, that is just the tip of the iceberg of what is to come. The fact still remains that they are still trying to close Dorothea Dix despite the fact that there is nowhere to put all these mentally ill patients. They are encouraging families that their mentally ill relatives are able to function outside of the hospital setting when they really are not. Then when something atrocious occurs, the individual that committed the act is blamed. I am not saying that person is not responsible but the ones that convinced the family that the mentally ill individual is o.k. is just as responsible. There is too much concern about what can be done with that land economically than what is best for the society. Keep your eyes and minds open because there is a bigger picture that is being drawn.
