Raleigh Prepares For MEAC Basketball Tournament

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Plans for a sporting first in Raleigh are well under way.

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) basketball tournament will be held at the RBC Center next year for the first time. Dennis Thomas, MEAC commissioner, is in town this week to educate the community about the Division I conference, which includes N.C. A&T State University.

also has hired two public relation firms to spread the word about the conference on a national level.

Initially, the MEAC tournament is not expected to draw the crowds or the money the CIAA basketball tournament drew while it was played in Raleigh.

Like the CIAA, the MEAC has entertainment events planned during the week of the tournament, which will be held in March.
