ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A convicted sex offender accused of kidnapping a 12-year-old girl from Rocky Mount is now back in North Carolina.
Phillip Denkler, 27, was arrested on Aug. 31 in Sterling, Colo.
He had dropped the girl off at an Iowa bus station a day earlier.
Investigators think he met the girl in the Rocky Mount area and persuaded her to leave with him.
The nationwide search lasted five days.
Denkler faces kidnapping, as well as other charges.
