Posted Updated

PERSON COUNTY, N.C. — Doctors are treating a Person County High School student for bacterial meningitis.

Many doctors consider bacterial meningitis one of the most serious form of the illness.

Health officials do not believe anyone else has the risk of becoming infected, but they want parents to be aware of the symptoms.

Symptoms include sudden fever, aches and pains and nausea.

The student's name has not been released.
