Man Wanted In Cumberland Shooting Arrested In Washington

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery and attempted murder in Fayetteville on Sept. 20.

DeWayne Shondell Woolridge, 23, was taken into custody at a residence in Spokane, Wash., on Monday. His accomplice, 41-year old James Alvin Hill, of Laurinburg, was arrested last week at a home in Scotland County.

Both men are charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and attempted first-degree murder.

Leon Roosevelt Allen, 65, was shot when the suspects allegedly entered his home in Sunset Mobile Home Park and began firing weapons. One of the suspects, 22-year old Kevin Flowers, of Laurinburg, was fatally wounded during the attempted robbery.

Woolridge is awaiting extradition to North Carolina to face charges against him. Hill remains in the Cumberland County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
