Tractor-Trailer Gets Stuck Underneath Johnston County Bridge

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A height problem brought traffic to a standstill on northbound Interstate 95 Sunday afternoon.
A tractor-trailer too tall to fit under the bridge that carries Highway 701 over I-95 got stuck briefly, but the driver was able to back out from underneath the bridge.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation recently installed warning signs indicating the bridge's height after similar past problems.
Earlier this month, the North Carolina Highway Patrol shut down the bridge that carries Highway 70 over I-95 in Smithfield while construction crews fixed weak spots where two tractor-trailers with tall loads hit the underside.
