SMITHFIELD, N.C. — The driver of a trash truck was airlifted to an area hospital after a wreck in Smithfield Friday afternoon.
The wreck happened at 2:15 p.m. in the
5500 block of Highway 210
in Smithfield when the driver of the truck became pinned under the truck.
It's not clear from authorities how the wreck happened or how the worker became pinned.
The driver was eventually extricated and was airlifted to UNC Hospitals. The worker's condition and name are not known.
