Henderson, Army Corps At Odds Over Kerr Lake Water
Posted September 21, 2005
HENDERSON, N.C. — While most communities have a need for water, communities around Kerr Lake might have plenty of water -- for a price.
The Army Corps of Engineers sells water to the Kerr Regional Water system.
The corps wants a 30-year contract worth more than $3 million, nearly double the current rate.
Henderson and other cities on the regional water supply hope to reach a deal before the end of the month.
If they do not reach an agreement, the corps could turn off the water.
