RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh road is back open after a power failure left hundreds of people without power on a cold Saturday night.

Avent Ferry Road from Centennial Parkway to Varsity Drive was closed for several hours while Progress Energy crews worked to repair power lines. At the peak of the outage, about 1,700 people lost power about 9 pm Saturday.

Progress Energy officials said the company is trying to determine just what happened to knock the power out.
