DURHAM, N.C. — A state worker has been arrested on numerous fraud charges in connection with a computer sales scam on eBay, the Durham Police Department said Monday.

Authorities arrested Lukhwinder Singh Sidu, 35, of Wellingham Drive in Durham, and charge him with three counts of obtaining property by false pretense and two counts of accessing a computer in furtherance of a fraud. Sidhu was an employee with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services when the fraud allegedly occurred.

Nine people contacted investigators saying that they won auctions for computers on eBay and paid the seller, but never received the computers. The victims are from as far away as Hawaii and Canada.
