DURHAM, N.C. — A man accused of killing his wife and dumping her body in a lake nearly three years ago wants his trial date pushed back.
Robert Petrick filed a request asking to delay his murder trial, which is scheduled to begin Oct. 31, for two or three more months.
Janine Sutphen, a cellist with the Durham Symphony, disappeared in January 2003. Her body was found months later in Falls Lake.
Petrick, who will represent himself, is currently serving time at Central Prison on fraud charges.
A judge could rule on Petrick's request next week.
