Posted September 13, 2005
WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — As a result of a Wake County Public School System's multimillion-dollar fraud investigation, the school board is hiring an outside auditor.
Bids are due by 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Fifteen companies and individuals, including former N.C. state auditor Ralph Campbell, showed up last month for a pre-bid conference.
The outside auditor will review the books for the past three years.
The auditor will also review accounting changes implemented after the fraud was detected.
