Inmate, Escaped From Orange County, Caught in Harnett
Dunn, N.C. — Sheriff's deputies in Harnett County on Friday night captured an inmate who had escaped from a facility in Orange County a day earlier.
Deputies said they found Jackie D. Littrell when they responded to a breaking and entering call on Jernigan Road near Dunn at 7:50 p.m.
Littrell was turned over to state Department of Correction officials. Charges were pending in Harnett County.
Littrell, 43, had been reported missing from the Orange County Correctional Facility on Thursday afternoon. Officials were unsure when he slipped away from the minimum-security facility.
Littrell's last known address was in Dunn.
According to the state Department of Correction Web site, Littrell was convicted in November on a charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon and has been serving an 83-month sentence.
