Sheriff's deputies in Harnett County on Friday night captured an inmate who had escaped from a facility in Orange County a day earlier.

Deputies said they found Jackie D. Littrell when they responded to a breaking and entering call on Jernigan Road near Dunn at 7:50 p.m.

Littrell was turned over to state Department of Correction officials. Charges were pending in Harnett County.

Littrell, 43, had been reported missing from the Orange County Correctional Facility on Thursday afternoon. Officials were unsure when he slipped away from the minimum-security facility.

Littrell's last known address was in Dunn.

According to the state Department of Correction Web site, Littrell was convicted in November on a charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon and has been serving an 83-month sentence.

This man looks like a Duke grad.?????? You guys are giving this man alot of credit. This man does not appear as if you could have graduated from Little Miss Muffet's Kindergarden class.

Jackie Littrell and graduate, are certainly not words that I would expect to see in the same sentence.

Looking over that man's rap sheet, posted by crissydoll, I was appalled. Why do we as a society tolerate this? Obviously, the man is a career criminal. Our pathetic approach to criminal justice makes the old west look mighty appealing these days.

He looks like a Duke graduate to me, what do you think?

pfc4jc, A couple of real questions: 1. Why was this man arrested in the first place? 2. If this man is guilty, why did he commit the crime? 3. Why do people choose to commit crimes?

jcasner, Leg irons and hand cuffs are cruel and unusual punishment. LOL
