RALEIGH, N.C. — A Duplin County woman faces charges for the role she played in a 4-year-old Cumberland County murder.

Investigators said Linda Newkirk helped Mark Humphrees dispose of evidence related to the murder of Tamela Johnson. Johnson was found stabbed to death inside her mobile home.

Humphrees pleaded guilty to second-degree murder charges in 2003.

Newkirk is charged with being an accessory after the fact to a felony and perjury.
