Second Arrest Made In Cumberland Rock-Throwing Incident

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A second man has been arrested in a rock-throwing incident that left two people seriously injured.

Antoine Henri Ackin, 21, was taken into custody Wednesday. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, injury to personal property, robbery with a deadly weapon and felony conspiracy.

Investigators said Ackin was one of two men who allegedly threw a large rock through the windshield of an oncoming car traveling east on Highway 24 early Tuesday morning. Edith Mae Underwood and her boyfriend, Harold Gilbert Pope were seriously injured as a result.

Authorities had arrested 22-year old Joel Amone Liggons. He remains in jail under a $56,000 secured bond. Ackin is being held under a $55,500 secured bond.
