Durham Police Investigate Shooting That Hit Public Bus

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham authorities are investigating a shooting that hit an occupied

Durham Area Transit Authority

bus Monday afternoon.

The shooting occurred shortly after noon as the bus was traveling on

Holloway Street near Elizabeth Street

. No one was injured in the shooting, authorities said, and they do not believe the bus was the intended target.

According to witnesses, a man standing in a yard on Holloway Street was shooting at a man and a woman in a black Monte Carlo when the bus passed.

Bullets struck two windows on the passenger side of the bus, but the bullets did not penetrate the windows, police said. Investigators found a third bullet hole on the side of the bus.

At the time of the shooting, seven people, including the driver, were on the bus.
