WILSON, N.C. — A Wilson man admits he fired a gun that killed a teenager.

Desma Williams has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of 17-year-old Julia Briggs.

Investigators say Williams got into an argument with a group of people last year and fired a shot to scatter the crowd. The bullet bounced off the ground and hit Briggs.

Police say Briggs was not the target.
