One Dead, One Injured In I-95 Accident

WILSON, N.C. — State troopers are investigating a deadly accident from the weekend.

Authorities say at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, a car traveling at about 70 mph ran off the road while traveling southbound on Interstate 95 near Kenley. The driver overcorrected and later lost control of the car, which overturned and struck a tree.

James Stonewall Jackson Jr., 23, of New York, died at the scene; Donovan Harmon Middleton, also from New York, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.

The Highway Patrol said alcohol was not involved in the accident.
