RAEFORD, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier and his wife are in jail, accused of sexually abusing children, authorities said.

Investigators say Andrew Anthony, of the 3rd Battalion of the 27th Field Artillery Regiment, and his wife, Lori, molested two children and shot illicit pictures and video of them.

"I think the safe thing to say is there was touching, but I won't say to what extent," said Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin.

Officers arrested the couple and charged each of them with taking indecent liberties with a minor and first-degree sex offense. They say it is rare, even in cases such as this, for the husband and wife to be accused of the same thing.

"Most of the time, it's usually one parent and then maybe one parent protecting the other," Peterkin said. "I think that's what alarms us. We have both parents without any type of remorse."

Investigators searched the house and seized computers. Sifting through evidence, officers now believe the abuse started more than a year ago. They expect to file more charges against the couple.

Neighbors say they are surprised and shocked.

"They were cool, you wouldn't never think nothing about them, nothing," said Michael Montique, who lived near the Anthonys.

Both suspects are in the Hoke County Jail. Bond is set at $100,000 each.
