Firefighters Battle North Raleigh House Blaze

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh firefighters responded to a house fire in the

6800 block of Greystone Drive

near Falls of Neuse Road.

The call came into emergency operators shortly after 11 a.m. Monday. Many firefighters had to deal with the fire as well as the high temperatures.

"We're having to be watchful, very watchful of them because the equipment they wear really holds the heat in, so your body heat rises pretty rapidly," said Division Chief James Poole.

Investigators said there were two explosions in the garage. The homeowner was in the house at the time but was not hurt. Firefighters are not sure yet what triggered the blasts.
