Veteran Teachers In Durham Help Co-Workers Excel

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Thirty of the Durham schools' best and most experienced teachers are training to be full-time mentors to new teachers.

They will help rookie educators with lesson plans, parent relations and daily stresses.

School administrators hope the program will help the system's high turnover rate.

More than 40 percent of new teachers leave Durham classrooms within the first three years.
