RALEIGH, N.C. — Motorists had to pack their patience and find alternate routes to get to their destination after an early-morning single-car accident in Raleigh.
The accident occurred at around 5:25 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of
Navaho Drive and Wake Forest Road
near the Beltline when a minivan crashed into two utility poles.
Samantha Williams, the driver of the minivan, had non-life-threatening injuries. She has been charged with drunken driving.
All southbound lanes of Wake Forest Road and one northbound lane re-opened around 12:10 p.m. BellSouth crews are still conducting repairs in the area, so the other northbound lanes will remain closed. The traffic situation is expected to stay that way for the rest of the afternoon.
Progress Energy reported 300 customers were without power as a result of the accident. They expect to have power restored to those customers soon.
Motorists may want to use Six Forks Road or Atlantic Avenue as possible detours.
