Fire Sweeps Through North Raleigh Auto Shop

RALEIGH, N.C. — Fire tore through an auto shop off

Overlook Road

near Capital Boulevard and Interstate 540 Tuesday night.

At about 9:45 p.m., the Raleigh Fire Department received a call about a fire at Amana Auto Care Center.

In a county-wide response, more than a dozen fire engines from Wake Forest, New Hope and Raleigh arrived to the scene to find a major working fire. Officials said it took about 25 minutes to extinguish the fire.

According to the Wake-New Hope Fire Department, the fire was a major commercial structure fire.

Authorities said no one was inside the facility. A motorist driving by saw the fire and called 911.

Investigators have not said what caused the fire or how much damage was caused.
