Posted Updated

MORRISVILLE, N.C. — A US Airways 757 passenger jet made an unscheduled landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport Wednesday morning due to an odor in the cabin.

Airport spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin said the smoke detectors on the plane did go off.

The airplane landed without incident shortly before 9 a.m. By the time RDU officials got on the plane, the odor had dissipated.

It is not known where the flight originated from or where it was heading.

There were 66 passengers on board, who will be rebooked on another flight.
