RALEIGH, N.C. — The cost of Raleigh's new convention center may be going up.
The project is budgeted at $192 million, which includes $13 million for unexpected expenses. With just 10 percent of the project finished, almost all of the $13 million is designated.
The latest unexpected expense to pop up is an additional $1.3 million for asbestos cleanup at the old convention center.
Leaders say they have other options for financing. None of them involve a tax increase.
