Expectant Mothers In Person County Must Go Elsewhere To Deliver Babies

Posted Updated

PERSON COUNTY, N.C. — Person Memorial Hospital is temporarily out of the baby business.

The hospital's only obstetrician starts a new job on Monday, and that means Person Memorial has no one to deliver babies.

There is one other full-time obstetrician who lives in Person County, but she delivers babies in Durham.

The hospital's Board of Directors has formed a committee to figure out its next step.

Until then, expectant mothers will have to cross county lines to receive care and deliver their babies.
