Sanford, N.C. — A Sanford man was arrested Wednesday and charged with a slaying last week, authorities said.
Jonathon Filmore Spivey, 21, of 11145 N.C. Highway 42, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Thomas Matthew Coore. Spivey is being held in the Lee County Detention Center without bond.
The body of Coore, 23, of Pittsboro, was found about 300 yards off Gilliam Road last Thursday by a hunter checking a deerstand, authorities said. He had been stabbed.
Spivey and Coore were acquaintances, authorities said.
