Ongoing Feud Leads To Shooting In Raleigh, Police Say

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police said an ongoing feud between former coworkers might have triggered a shooting in Raleigh Saturday night.

Police said Jose Constanza, 25, shot a former coworker in an alley near the Shanghai Express restaurant located on Hillsborough Street.

The victim, 31-year-old Jose Contreras, worked at the Chinese restaurant. The owner of Shanghai Express said Constanza was a former employee.

The owner also said Contreras was waiting in a nearby alley for his brother to pick him up after his shift when Constanza shot him in the back.

Contreras ran back to the restaurant for help.

The owner said the shooting has shaken the workers at Shanghai Express, who told police Constanza and Contreras had an ongoing feud. The restaurant would remain open only until 10 p.m. for the next several days, the owner said. Normally, the restaurant stays open until 3 a.m.

Contreras was listed in good condition at WakeMed on Sunday night.

Police arrested Constanza at his apartment in Raleigh Sunday morning.
