RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake County schools may soon have outside eyes looking over its books.
School board members are expected to discuss hiring an outside firm to review school system finances at a meeting on Tuesday.
A fraud investigation at the Transportation Department sparked the decision. The school board's attorney said former employees worked with former managers at a parts company to siphon millions of dollars over several years.
School board members have already agreed on the outside audit, but have yet to vote on it.
