DOT To Close I-40 Lanes Nightly In Durham County

Posted Updated

DURHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Pack your patience if you need to take a portion of Interstate 40 to work during the morning. A major project is now under way that could slow you down the rest of the summer.

The state Department of Transportation will temporarily close lanes on Interstate 40 between N.C. Highway 54 (exit 273) and Davis Drive (exit 280) in Durham County.

Lanes will close from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. throughout the summer. One lane of traffic will be maintained during the lane closures.

The construction is part of the I-40 widening project.
