Goldsboro City Council Approves Annexation Measure

Posted Updated

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The Goldsboro City Council passed a measure to annex nearly 400 homes in a Wayne County neighborhood, not far from downtown.

About 100 residents showed up at the council chambers wearing red in protest Tuesday night. They will now have to pay county and city taxes.

Council members say the city will get more tax dollars based on a larger population.

The annexation would go into effect in September.
