Group Wants To Change Election Process For Durham School Board Members

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — It is down to the wire for a group trying to change the way Durham's school board members are elected.

Concerned Citizens for an Accountable Government started collecting signatures for a petition in May.

The group wants everyone in the county to be able to vote for each school board member. Currently, residents can only vote within their district.

More than 15,000 signatures are needed on the petition by the end of the day Thursday before commissioners can even consider voting on it.
