GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A man is in critical condition after being shot while riding in a car on Highway 70 in Goldsboro Thursday night.

At approximately midnight, Qushawn Broadhurst and his passenger, Aaron Kinsey, were traveling west on Highway 70 near the 111 interchange, when a light-colored late model Toyota Camry or Nissan Maxima pulled up beside them and the people inside started firing shots at Broadhurst's pickup, police said.

Kinsey was shot and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Wayne Memorial and then was airlifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital where he is in critical condition. Broadhurst was not hurt and police believe no one in the other car was hurt.

Westbound Highway 70 was closed between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Friday to allow police to investigate the scene. Traffic was diverted to a small secondary road.

Police are searching for the suspect vehicle. The only info they have is that it's a late model white/light colored Toyota Camry or Nissan Maxima. Police do not have any suspect descriptions.
