RALEIGH, N.C. — There are special honors for the wife of a soldier serving in Iraq.

Shelle Altieri was recognized during a Raleigh City Council meeting on Tuesday.

Her husband, Army Maj. Jayson Altieri, gave the city an American flag he carried with him on combat missions in Iraq.

Altieri said her husband wanted to show the city how grateful he is for all the support Raleigh gives the troops.
