Crews Clear Accident On Eastbound I-40

Traffic is flowing again on eastbound Interstate 40 after a multi-vehicle accident.

According to the state Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. Friday between the I-540 exit and the Page Road exit. Authorities said a tractor-trailer, a sport utility vehicle and other cars were involved in the accident.

Two people have been taken to Duke Medical Center. Their conditions are not yet known.

The accident caused onlooker delays on both westbound and eastbound lanes of I-40. The roadway reopened at around 8:30 p.m.

I think people are referencing a "train" but it would likely be a monorail...similar to the one going up in Charlotte.

So, train wrecks never happen? I hear on the news every once in a while (more frequently lately) about train derailments.

The reason people move here is because of low taxes-the reason we have low taxes is that we do not subsidize public transportation. I would not mind taking a train to work but most people do not know how to schedule additional time to allow for that. Until then, no one wants to take a train or bus.

Good luck changing the way people think about their lives. That is what you are going to have to do to get them to ride a train to work. We are married to convienience and nobody wants to sacrifices that to save any amount of gas.
