Judge Orders Durham Public Defender To Donate Computer To DSS

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham's public defender will donate a computer to the Department of Social Services as part of a court order.

The judge ordered Bob Brown to pay $52 to be put toward a computer to help with research, but Bob Brown suggested he donate a computer instead.

The county agency claimed Brown had overburdened its child support agency with time-consuming requests for information and wanted him to pay $10,000 in sanctions.

Brown said he was simply trying to provide his clients a good defense.
