Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — The name will certainly grab your attention; producers hope the meaning will too.

TheVagina Monologues"is coming to The Cameo in Fayetteville this weekend.

The play is a group of monologues about women's sexuality. The topics range from pelvic exams to domestic violence.

The lead actress for the Fayetteville performance is Emmy Award winner Rena Sofer. She believes the play is a way for women to realize that the vagina should be a part of their bodies that is not kept a secret.

"The more we can talk about it, a young woman -- the first time she's approached in a way that's uncomfortable to her -- she is going to know she can say no," says Sofer.

The play will be performed across the world Saturday as part of V-Day -- an annual effort to end violence against women.

Fayetteville is the only city in the state where the play will be performed. The two performances are sold out.
