Reward For Information About Burned Deer Reaches $5,000

Posted Updated

GARNER, N.C. — The reward for information about whoever burned a stuffed white deer in Garner has increased to $5,000.

The deer was recently moved to a climate-controlled building at Lake Benson Park. At about 4 a.m. Friday, someone driving by the park called 911 to report a fire.

When police and firefighters arrived, they found the deer burning outside and the building broken into.

Investigators said the deer was badly damaged, and it is not yet known if the damage can be repaired.

Members of the Garner community raised $8,000 to preserve the deer after it was hit by a car.
