DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham Housing Authority is involved in an investigation of the disappearance of thousands of dollars.
The DHA is conducting an internal fraud investigation that focuses on a former employee.
A supervisor with the Hope 6 program noticed a problem and alerted the agency's director.
Larry Jones told WRAL more than $3,000 in rent payments is missing and that total could grow.
The former employee, who says he did not take the money, was let go last week as part of DHA's reorganization effort.
