RALEIGH, N.C. — The Raleigh Police Department said a 33-year-old man drowned Saturday afternoon at Shelly Lake Park.
Investigators said Mariano Martinez Alejo, of Raleigh, lost his balance while standing on a dock and fell into the water.
Alejo could not swim, police said.
A witness pulled Alejo from the water and tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Rex Hospital.
