A wrongful death lawsuit involving the Wayne County Board of Education will be at the center of a mediation session on Monday.
Antwan Lewis, 16, drowned at Myrtle Beach in April of 2005 after traveling there for a band competition with Spring Creek High School.
Lewis’ parents filed a lawsuit against the school board, saying it was negligent in ensuring their son's safety and should be held responsible. School officials said the field trip was fully chaperoned.
If Monday’s mediation session doesn’t resolve the dispute, a trial date is set for March 12.
