Mother, Son Killed In Early Morning Accident In Wayne County

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — A mother and son were killed in an early morning single vehicle accident Thursday, the North Carolina Highway Patrol said.
Christopher Harrell, 31, and his mother, Brenda Harrell, 56, both of Edwards Store Road, were traveling at about 6:30 a.m. when the driver, Christopher Harrell, lost control of the vehicle, jumped a creek and hit an embankment, according to the Highway Patrol. Both were killed on impact.
Investigators believe speed may have been the cause of the accident.
Christopher Harrell was the brother of Newton Grove Police Chief Frankie Harrell; Brenda Harrell was the chief's mother.
