— Two teens died and another was injured in a weekend accident in Johnston County, authorities said.

The head-on collision happened on Johnston Parkway Road along Interstate 95 south of Kenly at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Investigators said a GMC truck driven by Nicholas Creech, 16, of Selma, was traveling south when it was hit by a Chevrolet driven by Reece Richardson, 17, of Kenly.

Both Creech and Richardson were killed in the accident. Travis Foster, 16, who was a passenger in Creech's truck, was listed in fair condition at WakeMed Monday afternoon.

Investigators said they do not know why the teens were driving toward one another.

All three teens were juniors at North Johnston High School. Creech was a varsity football player.

Grief counselors will be available at the school Tuesday to meet with students. Monday was a teacher's workday.

"It will be a difficult day no matter what happens tomorrow," North Johnston Principal Ross Renfrow said.

Renfrow said says the tight-knit school has never experienced this kind of loss before. and it will be a painful learning experience.

"These were two responsible kids, very mature for their age," he said. "We just are saddened by the loss."

About 4 years ago, I had the opportunity to meet the entire immediate Richardson family at bible school. Since then my son has been involved in sports activities coached by members of the Richardson family. If you do not know them, you have missed out on a JEWEL!!(Reece Richardson.) He was an all around good kid!! My heart goes out to the Creech and Richardson families. As the mother of a teenage son, I can not imagine the pain of loosing a child. I know God only takes the best and sometimes we can not comprehend the loss. May God be with these families and may we all continue to pray that Travis will have a speedy recovery. For those of you that do not know these kids, please DO NOT post your rediculous comments.

I know how close everyone is at NJ. My prayers and thoughts will be with both Nick and Reece's families, and also for Travis and his recovery. God be with you all every day.

There has been mentioned that this was a terrible mistake, and not a random accident. Possibly a game of "chicken". Hopefully this was not the case. Our prayers to all.

this is horrible. my prayers are with the families. my 18 year old daughter was in a head on collision about 2 weeks ago, but fortunately she only had minor injuries. i know how schared we all were thinking what could have happened so i can only imagine how the parents must feel. so far as the comment about the 2 knowing each other and playing chicken, it's a small community, nothing uncommon about being in the same school.

My thoughts and prayers are with all the families involved, and the young man who has an uphill road to climb yet in his recovery. This is so tragic. To all the young people out there especially, please be careful in all that you do for you deserve the chance to truly experience life to the fullest.

southern, because I am saved, sanctified, and holyghost filled, I can't say to you just what I want to. But I am letting you, I am rebuking that evil spirit of yours. And to everyone else,as a member of a known community, lets do what we know how to do best, and thats pray. We all know that a community that prays together, will stay together. Remember God doesn't make mistakes, this was all apart of his plan. Reece and Nick will defantly be missed, but we all kno that they are smiling down on us from heaven. Continue to pray for Travis and his family, because they are going to need it when travis recovers. That's right, we are going to speak that into life. May all of you be safe, and be blessed...and remember Prayer Changes Things...

May God be with the family & friends that were close to these kids. May they find love & comfort through the word of Jesus Christ. Lord let this be a lesson to every child & parent. Give us all the knowledge & patience that it take to operate a vehicle.
