Two teens died and another was injured in a weekend accident in Johnston County, authorities said.

The head-on collision happened on Johnston Parkway Road along Interstate 95 south of Kenly at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Investigators said a GMC truck driven by Nicholas Creech, 16, of Selma, was traveling south when it was hit by a Chevrolet driven by Reece Richardson, 17, of Kenly.

Both Creech and Richardson were killed in the accident. Travis Foster, 16, who was a passenger in Creech's truck, was listed in fair condition at WakeMed Monday afternoon.

Investigators said they do not know why the teens were driving toward one another.

All three teens were juniors at North Johnston High School. Creech was a varsity football player.

Grief counselors will be available at the school Tuesday to meet with students. Monday was a teacher's workday.

"It will be a difficult day no matter what happens tomorrow," North Johnston Principal Ross Renfrow said.

Renfrow said says the tight-knit school has never experienced this kind of loss before. and it will be a painful learning experience.

"These were two responsible kids, very mature for their age," he said. "We just are saddened by the loss."

Reece Richardson and Nick Creech----RIP 2007

About 4 years ago, I had the opportunity to meet the entire immediate Richardson family at bible school. Since then my son has been involved in sports activities coached by members of the Richardson family. If you do not know them, you have missed out on a JEWEL!!(Reece Richardson.) He was an all around good kid!! My heart goes out to the Creech and Richardson families. As the mother of a teenage son, I can not imagine the pain of loosing a child. I know God only takes the best and sometimes we can not comprehend the loss. May God be with these families and may we all continue to pray that Travis will have a speedy recovery. For those of you that do not know these kids, please DO NOT post your rediculous comments.

I know how close everyone is at NJ. My prayers and thoughts will be with both Nick and Reece's families, and also for Travis and his recovery. God be with you all every day.
