GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A traffic stop in Goldsboro ended in gunfire.
Police say Officer Stephen Powers pulled over 19-year-old Tremayne Carmichael at about 7 p.m. Thursday. The two men got into a struggle and Powers shot Carmichael, police said.
Carmichael is listed in fair condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Powers was also transported to Wayne Memorial for minor injuries. He has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the incident.
