RALEIGH, N.C. — A pick-up truck crashed into an industrial riding lawn mower Thursday afternoon on Interstate 40.
The accident happened near the median of the Wade Avenue/Interstate 40 split about 1 p.m.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the tractor crossed the Wade Avenue ramp in front of a Nissan pickup truck. Both went off the road and the tractor broke in half and flipped on its side. The driver of the tractor, Robert Person, was thrown into the dirt.
Both Person and the driver of the truck, David Vondergathen, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Highway Patrol said no charges would be filed because the tractor is considered farm equipment.
Traffic was backed up to the Interstate 540-Interstate 40 intersection.
